Many (not all) of the houses in our neighborhood show their age in the drywall — from nail pops, to visible seams, to cracking corner beads, to paint jobs that went on with dust in the way. But even new construction is usually far from perfect! This is a premium service for the seriously discerning.
First, what “Level 5” actually means: drywall finishing is graded on an industry scale from Level 0 to Level 5. Level 4 — taped seams and coated fastener heads — is what nearly every home gets. Level 5 goes one step further: the entire surface is skim-coated into one continuous, uniform plane, leaving nothing to telegraph through the paint under critical light. It's the standard specified for the finest homes.
Level 5 is extremely hard to reach, but we try for it: mudding, sanding, priming, and painting — and if it's not perfect, we do it again, and even again if needed. And it's customer-led: you hold a bright light at various angles and point out (or mark) every blemish you want fixed. From a cost standpoint it's literally a charge-for-time operation, and you're advised to go as far as you'd like based on your eye for perfection and, of course, your budget. Some may find themselves literally adding repair on top of repair — it's just how it works best: chasing it to, and for, your liking!
Every fully painted room already includes a generous allowance of nail pops and crack repair for free. When a wall needs more — larger patches, water damage, or perfecting work above and beyond the complimentary — I offer full drywall repair as its own service.
